You're pregnant, you're nesting, and somewhere between the crib instructions and the hospital bag checklist, a friend says, "You have to get a night nurse." Then another says, "Actually, a postpartum doula changed my life." Now you're googling overnight baby care in Fort Worth at midnight, wondering what the difference even is.

Take a deep breath, Mama. Here's the breakdown.

What Is a Night Nurse?

A night nurse is a trained newborn caregiver who comes to your home overnight and takes over baby care entirely, so you can sleep. Our night nurses typically work from 9pm to 6am, handling feedings, diaper changes, soothing, and settling baby back down. We also keep a detailed log of feeds and sleep, so you wake up knowing exactly how the night went.

The Goal: Rest. Your Nightingale is awake so you don't have to be.

What Is a Postpartum Doula?

A postpartum doula supports the whole family, usually during the day. Think of her as your recovery partner. She helps with emotional and physical healing after birth, answers feeding questions, and shows you newborn basics like swaddling, bathing, and umbilical cord care. She can also watch baby so you can nap, tackle light housekeeping, and run quick errands.

The Goal: Recovery, confidence, and a little extra hand around the house.

So, Which One Do You Need?

Choose a night nurse if you're running on fumes. Sleep deprivation is the hardest part of the newborn stage for most families, and overnight care is the most direct fix. It's especially helpful for parents of multiples, babies with medical needs, or anyone returning to work soon. We typically recommend three to five nights per week for the best results.

Choose a postpartum doula if you want hands-on teaching and daytime help. She's ideal for first-time parents who want to feel more confident with feeding, soothing, and everyday care, or for families who need an extra set of hands during recovery.

Choose both if you want the full village. Many of our night nurses are doulas too, so you can build a plan that covers your days and your nights.
